The English Theatre Society is a new club for amateur theatre lovers, which is aimed at students from Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences, TUM Campus Heilbronn and Coding school 42 Heilbronn, as well as people from the city of Heilbronn. The course starts on October 16, 2024, with rehearsals taking place once a week at alternating locations between the Theaterschiff and cooperating institutions. The English Theatre Society is intended to be a meeting format for all people in Heilbronn, in which social contacts, creative exchange and a change of perspective can unfold. Over two semesters the club develops a joint production on the theme of “home”. We want to ask questions and find answers in a playful way: What is home? A feeling, a place, a perspective? To what extent can we progressively appropriate the concept of home? Or is the longing for an inclusive homeland actually long outdated? What utopias arise when we think of home? With three open-air performances at the end of July 2025, the production will be part of the official program of the Theaterschiff. During the course, participants learn the basic acting skills for body and voice work, permeability and stage presence.
